Egyptian and oriental collection

The Egyptian collection includes two mummies, one intact female and one male with only the head preserved. There are also objects which could not be missing from funerary equipment: statuettes known as ushabti, servants of the deceased in the otherworldly tasks; an Amduat papyrus dealing with the nocturnal journey of the Sun; painted wooden figures re-assembled during restoration on a carved mummy board – an extremely rare example in Italian collections of Egyptian antiquities.

The museum also possesses a clay figurine of Syrian origin, dating back to a period between 2000 and 1800 B.C.
