Special opening of the Museum of Archaeology of the Pavia University Museum System:

Saturday 15 July 2023, 10am-6pm. 

Music at the University, Homage to the Muse Euterpe: appointment in the Museum at 4 p.m.

Under the auspices of the Muse of Music Euterpe, she who makes people cheerful, the Museum of Archaeology of the Pavia Athenaeum Museum System is organising a concert with students from the Franco Vittadini Conservatory of Music in Pavia.

The itinerant performance will be held partly in the Museum and partly in the space dedicated to the Museum’s Renaissance finds: the Loggetta Sforzesca. It will be an opportunity to visit this historic space now reopened after its two-year closure due to renovation work of the Art Library.

The musicians will be coordinated by Paola Fre, who teaches flute at the Conservatorio “Franco Vittadini” in Pavia.

In particular, the touring performance will be held partly in the Museum and partly in the space dedicated to Renaissance artefacts in the Museum: the Loggetta Sforzesca. Indeed, it will be an opportunity to open this historic space to the public again after its closure for two years due to the renovation of the Art Library, which has recently been reopened.

The musicians will be coordinated by Paola Fre, who teaches flute at the Conservatorio “Franco Vittadini” in Pavia.

Furthermore, in the Museum and in the outdoor and shaded area of the Loggetta, overlooking the Cortile Sforzesco, music will be interspersed with poetry readings by Aicha Pasquinelli, an archaeology student and National Civil Service volunteer.

Museum curator Anna Letizia Magrassi Matricardi will introduce the public to the museum spaces.
