The Cultural Heritage Area of the University of Pavia, in collaboration with the Collegio Borromeo and the Collegio Ghislieri, is organising from 13 to 18 September 2021 a first training and refresher course open to all citizens and the entire academic community entitled Luoghi della cultura, oggetti della memoria. Present and future of cultural heritage. /Culture and memory, places and objects. Cultural heritage: present and future (scientific coordinators: G.F. Lavezzi, President of the Manuscript Centre; P. Mazzarello, President of the Museum System; C. Zizza, Rector’s Delegate for Libraries and Archives).
The aim of the meeting is to promote an informed approach to the material culture of the ancient and recent past through investigations and studies carried out using modern methodologies and with an open-eyed perspective on the future.
The training course is aimed, in particular, at students (university and non-university students) in order to encourage awareness among the new generations of the past, of their own cultural identity and of the places in which they live. It is also intended as a refresher course for the University’s staff, not only teachers, and for teachers of all levels, in the hope that they will be able to collaborate in developing actions to raise public awareness and promote the enormous historical, artistic and cultural heritage present in Pavia and its territory.
There will be face-to-face lectures, open to all interested parties and without the need for registration, which will be held in the morning in the Aula Magna of the University and will also be broadcast on the Zoom platform. The face-to-face workshops and itinerant visits will be held in the afternoons and, for teaching and safety reasons, are limited to a maximum of 25 participants and registration is compulsory. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
Discussions will focus on issues related to the preservation, prevention and protection of the various types of memory objects, including those of a digital nature.
