Here is the contribution of the Archaeological Museum for the series of video interventions “Past, Present and Future of Women in Science”, organised by the CUG – Comitato Unico di Garanzia – (Central Guarantee Committee) of the University of Pavia and by the Museum System of the University of Pavia.

Our wish is to commemorate the archaeologist Luisa Banti (1894-1978). She was a talented scholar and lecturer at the University of Pavia from 1948 to 1952. Professor Maurizio Harari, Director of the Archaeological Museum and the Department of Humanities at the University of Pavia, recounts her story. Despite social and family obstacles, the brilliant researcher still managed to leave her contribution in the field of archaeology and in the Italian cultural and scientific milieu of the twentieth century. She was involved in Etruscan studies and excavations in Crete.
