Dr Chiara Argentino has returned to work in the Museum of Archaeology of the University of Pavia, with a delicate restoration operation carried out on the two plaster reproductions of Athena Parthenos by Phidias. One was only cleaned, the other was reassembled because some parts were broken, in particular the right hand of Athena resting on a small column and clutching a small winged figure of Nike (Victory). The smaller Athena was made at the famous Parisian workshop Ateliers d’Art des Musées Nationaux Moulage et Chalcographie founded in 1794 in Paris in the service of the Louvre Museum.
