The Museum of Archaeology of the University of Pavia has loaned a precious papyrus illustrating the Book of Amduat to the Civico Museo Archeologico of Milan for the exhibition “Divine Egypt, under the sky of Nut”.

Milan’s Civico Museo Archeologico has extended the exhibition ‘Under the sky of Nut’ to 28 March 2021. In the meantime, it is organising a kind of virtual tour that will allow for remote guided tours. It has also launched a new creative contest, all about comics. The winners will receive a Museums Lombardia Valle d’Aosta season ticket.
All visitors to the exhibition are invited to be inspired by the themes and works on display in the exhibition to create their own comic strip. Participation in the competition is free of charge and there are no age limits.

TYPE OF COMIC STRIP. The comic strip must be made of paper or other material, as long as it is light, and must not exceed A3 format; it must consist of one or more vignettes containing images and text. Any type of artistic technique is permitted. The comic strip submitted must be unpublished and original; it must be produced personally and must not have already been published in newspapers, magazines, social networks or submitted to other competitions.

There will be three categories, divided by age group: 6-10 years, 11-16 years, over 17 years.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 emergency, it will not be possible to make drawings directly in the museum. All those wishing to take part in the contest are therefore invited to complete their creations elsewhere and to follow the instructions of the museum staff during their visit, when the exhibition reopens in December.

PRIZES. Three winning comics will be chosen, one for each category. The Management reserves the right to identify a higher number of winners, based on the number and type of entries received.

The winners will be rewarded with gadgets, museum publications and an Abbonamento Musei Lombardia Valle d’Aosta. Further details on the date and method of the award ceremony will be announced at a later date.

TERMS FOR THE SUBMISSION OF COMICS. The comics must be delivered to the Museum’s ticket office in Corso Magenta, 15 – 20123 Milan in a sealed envelope together with the participation form, which you will find among the attachments, duly signed. Alternatively, they may be sent by post to the attention of the Management of the Civico Museo Archeologico di Milano by 5.30 p.m. on 6 December 2020. The Management declines all responsibility for any damage suffered during shipment. In the case of sending by post, the postmark will be considered the official date of dispatch. On the back of each comic book must be written: first and last name, age of the author, title (optional).
